Circle the Wagons Again 2010 |
January 12-16, 2010 |
Rally Masters:
Brent and Julie Lauderdale |
Co-Rally Masters: Lamar Keck and Karen Rogers
Roy and Carol Mueller |
Once again the annual trip to the Arizona desert proves that a rally doesn't have to be expensive to be exciting. The organization of this rally is superb. Everyone chips in with some firewood, dish water and a litlle food for the meals and then the teams go to work. Each team is responsible for helping to set up, make the salad bar and clean up for breakfast and dinner for one day. The masters chefs then do their job. Breakfasts were superb and the taco stew dinner is always a big hit. Cook your own hot dogs, hamburgers and meat (fire grills provided), supplement the salads, cooked vegetables and fixings. In addition to good eating, there are plenty of games like desert bean bag baseball and the toilet paper race (you'll have to ask Willis - he won!) Side trips to the Yuma Proving Grounds and a hike up Palm Canyon were added features. And, of course, there is shopping at all the venues of Quartzsite - from the RV Show to the flea market. Here are some pictures of the fun.

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is always an incredible sight and once again, Rett and Claire Porter put on a rally that allowed everyone to enjoy the activities to the max. Parked on a bluff directly above the balloon field, you could sit in your chair and see the launches, the night time balloon glows and the competitions, such as trying to drop an object onto a target. The shape balloons seemed even more fantastic than in previous years. Sharing the total experience with Beaver friends makes it all the more enjoyable.

Eastbound and Down |
January 13 - 16, 2009 |
| Rally Masters: Gerald and Glenda Farris |
Co-Rally Masters: Tim and Diana Bentley |
Two in a row! Gerald and Glenda are getting to be real pros at planning great rallies. They followed up the Quartzsite rally by guiding 9 coaches across the country to the Lead-in rally at Moultrie. Rally fees only paid for RV sites (at rally rates, so it was cheaper than traveling alone) but a lot of fun was included. Activities included a steak dinner at Cattleman's in El Paso, a great potluck dinner, a free breakfast provided by the Casino at Vicksburg, Mississippi and game night - including a great high stakes (5 bucks) Texas Hold 'em tournament and Mexican Train. They even managed to provide perfect weather all the way across the country, as they did for the Quartzsite rally also.

Who says a rally has to cost a lot to be fun. For just $30, an armload of wood, a few groceries and a little water, you could join 50 other Beavers dry camped out in the desert and enjoy 4 days filled with fun, food and comaraderie. With the help of the breakfast crew and each day's team of helpers, breakfasts, salad bars, dinners and desserts that rivaled any more costly rally were prepared. In addition, there was nightly hot chocolate and marshmallows around the campfire. Daytime activities included hiking to Palm Canyon, a multi-team bean bag baseball tournament, Mexican train and other games and, of course, time to visit the miles of swap meets, rock shows, and the famous Quartzsite RV Tent show. Rally Masters, Glenda and Gerald did an outstanding job organizing a great rally. Check out the fun. |
| Santa Fe Siesta and Fiesta |
October 12-16, 2008 |
| Rally Masters: Rett and Claire Porter |
Co-Rally Masters: Howard and Barbara Fletcher |
After hosting the great Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta rally, Rett and Claire Porter guided a group of Beavers to Santa Fe for some R and R. The club room at Santa Fe Skies RV Park provided an excellent location for meals and Santa Fe proved to be a great spot to relax after getting up early to see the balloon launches. A custom tour of the city was included and, if you had the energy, there was hiking, interesting drives and lots of shopping. After two rallies in a row, hopefully Rett and Claire got some time to wind down too. Here are pictures of some of the participants.

| Enchanting High Country |
October 3 - 7, 2008 |
| Rally Masters: Harry & Judy Reisch |
Chama and Taos, New Mexico |
The beautiful high country of Chama, New Mexico was the setting for this great rally. The highlight was a train ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, America's highest and longest narrow gauge railroad. It traveled all the way up into Colorado and included a lunch stop. After two days in Chama, the whole rally picked up and moved (through some snowy, icy weather) to Taos. A tour of the Pueblo gave a look into the history of the people of this area. And, course, there was plenty of food, museums and unique gift shops. Here are a few pictures. |

And, if you're lucky, you can even get to volunteer for a chase crew. Vendors sell t-shirts, food and balloon memorabilia. Thanks to rally masters, Rett and Clair Porter, Beavers got prime viewing location for all the fun. Checkout alll the activities.

June 17 - 24, 2008
|
| Rally Masters: Lamar Keck and Karen Rogers |
Co-Rally Masters: Roy and Carol Mueller |
For the third time, Lamar and Karen provided an outstanding adventure for a huge group of Beavers. With its reputation assured through two previous Showtime Rallies, the sign-ups just kept pouring in and buses were added to accomodate those interested in attending. The participants were rewarded with some great meals, great fun (like the Hillbilly welcome party) and, of course, comfortable transportation to 11 great shows. What a party!

Lets Roll to Owatanna |
June 24 to July 5, 2008 |
| Rally Masters: Lamar Keck and Karen Rogers |
Co-Rally Masters: Roy and Carol Mueller |

After finishing up a great Branson rally, Lamar and Karen guided their group of eager Beavers to the Lead-in rally in Owatanna, Minnesota. The 12 day trek included a stop at the CAT rally in Henry, Illinois. Just a few of the highlights were the majestic views from the top of the St. Louis arch and visiting Springfield, Illinois, where trips to the Lincoln homestead and Capitol Building were popular.
